Today we went to Cork. First, I woke up early to take the train from Charleville to Cork. When we arrived in Cork, the first thing we did was go to the Marina Market, which is a big market with lots of shops and restaurants. We had lunch there — I had a mix of potatoes and meat. After lunch, we visited the city center. We also went to visit a church, but since we didn’t have a tour guide, we just looked around. Later t...

The first day of high school

Image
Today was the first day of high school. It was very different from high school in Spain, mainly because they don’t have exams — it’s more like a transition year. Also, they have lunch at school, which was very strange for me. In the first hour, we had Music. In this class, we had a lot of fun because we spent the whole time dancing. The next hour we had Spanish, which was very easy for me. After that class, we had a short break where we had a snack. Then we had Physical Education (PE), a class where we had a lot of fun playing different sports. After PE, we had Irish class. The teacher made groups with Spanish and Irish students mixed together. She taught us how to say basic words in Irish. Then, the teacher filmed us and showed the video on the whiteboard. After this class, we had our last break, during which we had lunch. Next, we had our final class of the day: Social, Personal and Health Education, where we talked about mental health. After that, we went to the pitch to wat...

Ploughing Day We woke up at 5 to go to the train station and take a train to Tullamore, where we got a bus that dropped us off in Screggan, where the ploughing event takes place. The ploughing is like a tractor exhibition, but there are also many shops and lots of free stuff you can take. The event is huge! We had a lot of fun, but it was also a bit stressful because it was so easy to get lost. At 3, we took the bus and later also took the train to go back home. The next day: mountain biking The next day, we went mountain biking. First, we went to school, where a bus took us to a place in the mountains, where some instructors were waiting for us. They explained some biking activities, and we started doing them. After practicing, they took us to the mountain bike trails. The landscape was very beautiful, and I had a lot of fun mountain biking. After that, we had one hour of class. Later that day, we went climbing and did some zip-lining after school. It was fun, but not as fun as mou...
